Catcall - The Warmest Place

the warmest place
Catcall is the moniker of electronic pop artist Catherine Kelleher. Since the project’s inception in 2007 Catcall has transformed from lo-fi beat purveyor to sassy and inventive dance pop artist. Catherine cut her musical teeth as a teenager in DIY punk group Kiosk, a band famed for their polarizing and bratty no-wave noise sound that eventually discovered a pop sensibility within the aggression and urgency of punk rock. With an incredibly wide range of influences and a frightening obsession with pop music from all eras, Catherine created Catcall as project where she could explore her pop sensibility further on her own within the realms of beats and synthesizers.

 Hermitude - Hyper Paradise

winningalbum
HyperParadise is Hermitude hitting the bullseye of their artistic vision, a beautifully inventive record of future beats and electronica. It’s not just their meticulousness in production and musicianship, it’s the passion and love they have for instrumental music that makes them so special. The songs are bubbling with personality: choruses leap out of songs demanding an emotional response, differing for each listener. It wouldn’t be hard to imagine the more notably adventurous R&B/soul vocalists wishing they could get their hands on the likes of ‘All of You’ and ‘HyperParadise’.

Grand Salvo

Grand Salvo Cover
Slay Me In My Sleep is a lavishly decorated and unabashed romantic melodrama. Intricate percussion, harp, recorder and woodwind play to the quick, restless pulse of youth, while in the sparer settings cello, gentle guitar and delicate piano reflect the melancholy of old age and longing. Slay Me In My Sleep also marks the first use of an electric guitar in any Grand Salvo recording. Slay Me In My Sleep was largely recorded and co-produced in Berlin by composer Nils Frahm, who has worked extensively with other singular artists such as Peter Broderick and Greg Haines. Frahm's exquisite piano work appears throughout, alongside vocal contributions by Heather Woods Broderick, Laura Jean and Luluc’s Zoe Randall. After the masterful Soil Creatures, Paddy Mann has once again extended himself on Slay Me In My Sleep, telling a tale of strange love with vivid detail, whimsy and beauty, in the special way only he knows how.
